A New Perspective on
School
Education is the work of youth and the foundation of work as an
adult. For youth who are struggling with challenging personal
issues, however, academic achievement is often far down on the
list of active concerns. At the BBR, academic achievement is
promoted by giving each youth the opportunity to make it a
priority and by fostering a safe and academically challenging
learning environment.

Individualized
Approach
The young men at the ranch attend school on campus in a
classroom with fully accredited teachers provided by the Nebo School District. Grades are
issued for all classes, and credit is given for satisfactorily completed course work. The
curriculum is standard for junior and senior high school; however, course work is also
individualized to help each student meet graduation requirements. Teachers design
individualized programs that correct academic weaknesses, capitalize on strengths, and
increase self-confidence.
Planning for Success
Many youth in the
BBR academic program have achieved the honor roll for the
first time in their lives. Since the school is part of Utah's
Nebo School District, honor roll designations, transcripts,
and diplomas read "Spanish Fork High School" and thus maintain
the confidentiality of the treatment program. Academic
opportunities for advanced placement and college classes are
also available for youth who are eligible for and interested
in post-high-school education.
